Thanks for all of your comments. They gave me pause. I got my appropriate speaker wires and so was ready to lend a lobe to the NAD D3020 both as impromptu power amp (nah, grainy and weak; didn't work so well) and as it was meant to be used. I was impressed. Big problem, though: I have Neutrik plugs on my turntable connections and they just won't mate with the phone inputs of the NAD. So it will need to go back.

Now what? The phono input ports are so shallow for the Neutrik plugs, I need some that are more prominent. The RCA plugs for CD player, however, worked fine.

Am looking for a decent integrated amp no more than 400 bucks. I am planning on keeping my CJ MV50 power amp and have it repaired (again), but for now and the future I want an integrated amp as ready back up should either or both my CJ PV5 pre amp or the power amp fail.
