The 2 major contending theories of government services are simply:
government FOISTS them on the people who later (perhaps) become dependent
People DEMAND services which 'only' the government can provide.
Models exist supporting both theories, and good articles are published.
See the St. Louis Fed for a MASS of such professional, researched and peer reviewed articles.
I tend to believe the government invents services to provide, giving them bunches of growth potential while allowing them to spend the nearly unlimitied amounts of money provided thru Taxation…..You'll note that government spending per capita was VERY LOW prior to the 16th amendment.
Do 'd' amps fill a need? doubtless. Many low sensitivty speakers need that kind of juice. In a free market, you are ALSO free to FAIL…which they (the 'd' amp guys) have yet to do…….
