My MA6500, like the MA6300, does not have the Autoformers, yet they sound entirely different. McIntosh is adamant that their Autoformers have absolutely no effect on the sound and are not utilized for such a purpose. They are painstakenly designed and manufactured to be completely transparent sonically. Read McIntosh's information about their Autoformers or talk to a rep from the company.I have heard non-Autoformer McIntosh amps over the years. They had the same neutral to slightly warm sound of the Autoformer-equipped models. None of them had the sonics of the power amp contained in the MA6300.
