Best DACS in a Preamp/Processor

Does anyone have any idea what eh best DACS are in Preamp/Processors, especially the older ones as I am looking for a good buy on a used one. e.g., Krell HTS, Sunfire, Anthem D-1 AVM-20 or 30, etc. I would really appreciate any comments as I am new at this and I am trying to make the best decision. When I read the reviews, they all seemed to be biased in favor of what they are reviewing, unless I am looking at the wrong reviews.
