RE: Amps with 4 EL-34's per side? Besides Marantz 9?

Ah yes the EL 34 tube smokes the KT 88 in midrange bloom. All suggestions above are solid choices. Also you may try a pair of Conrad Johnson Premier 12XS if within your budget. Also you may consider an audio note kit. They are supposed to be offering monoblock of their EL 34 kit amplifiers.
