As for me, I find the ideal height for line sources is floor to ceiling. There is no bounce and image size can be the most lifelike. Additional panel area also provides a bit lower response at the bottom and increases output.

Here's a long term user with space to support U-945s:


I would recommend starting with the Rule of Thirds placement. Center each speaker at one third of both length and width dimensions of the room. Ideally, measure the results and experiment with fore-aft placement and toe-in. In my 26'+ x 15' room, I got the most linear response at the bottom very close to that which works out to about 8' from front wall. Pics in gallery if you're interested.

What you will be rewarded with is an exceptionally transparent and coherent image that varies little as you move about the room. Standing. Sitting. In front. Behind. Close up Further away.
