I'd place them about 3' away from front wall, pointing along the length of the room.
Sound treatments tend to be more critical in small rooms than large, so I'd be prepared for sidewall and rear wall (behind your head) absorption. Front wall I'd try diffusion, but bare or absorbing materials might work best there also considering the proximity. With the right room treatment I think you'll find yourself in some musical bliss.
