Good to know.
As a follow up question: Would it be better if the panels were firmly anchored and had no sway, regardless of the original design? In my simple mind, it makes sense that the diaphragms (whether electrostatic panels, conventional cones or ribbons) need to move air precisely. If the diaphragms are not well anchored, then how would they be able to maximize precise air movement? Wouldn't any diaphragm be best served by a well founded anchor? Otherwise, most, if not all, the conventional cone speaker manufacturers have it all wrong, as their heavy speaker (several hundred pounds in some cases) chambers/boxes are designed incorrectly.
If we believe that the diaphragms should be well anchored, then we can certainly entertain the idea of removing the rubber that separates the panels from the frame.
just a thought.
