I have had a couple of bad experiences with quads recently.
I bought a pair of esl 63's on eBay- one was supposed to be working and one wasn't.When I got them I found that neither were working (lots of noises- panels had come unglued)). The seller thinks I damaged the working one in transport, but I was pretty careful with it. I am wondering if that would be likely to be the cause though?
On the other hand, the sellers are the widow and daughter of the late owner, and I suspect they may have played them without plugging them into power (yes, you can get a bit of sound out of them then).
I also bought a pair of esl treble units from an eBay seller that were packed in heavy bubble wrap, that arrived delaminated (ie glue failure. The seller has a high positive rating, so I am surprised that they were DOA, and they claim that they were checked out by onething audio, in the UK
