I replaced a Dahlquist LP1 electronic crossover with a DSPeaker 8033Sii subwoofer room correction device this weekend. Install went very smoothly although the calibration process made me aware of some buzzing bannana peeled wires that need attention. Bass and midrange are both improved. I’m using the 140 hz low pass filter, basic room correction and subsonic on the bass panels and 200uf at speaker level for the mids. Sounds like a very good blend to the mid range. Thanks again to Roger Gustovsson for his good comment that Magnepans do not need the available dipole correction filter. After fixing the banana peel I might insert the available 25-35 boost filter though. I recommend this for any 3 way Magnepans – the device is only about $350 for a demo unit at audio shows and sometimes available used. For this you get room correction plus an electronic crossover for the bass.
