My right Maggie started acting up, intermittently losing the treble. I called an old friend who's good with soldering, we opened the speaker and found that a few contacts went loose. He re-soldered everything carefully, and while at it, he did the same to the other speaker. We sat back for a listen, and bam! the sound came alive and hit us like a ton of bricks.
It was obvious from the very first listen that rejuvenating the contacts had improved the sound quality in a very substantial way. Everything became more airy, less congested, with much more palpable presence.
Re-soldering all your contacts is highly recommended to all who haven't touched their Maggies in ages.
