These highly versatile amps can be found for an excellent price on ebay, through an authorized dealer named Unique Squared (and others, I'm sure). I went to the Crown website and was able to register both amps via serial# in about 5 minutes. They have a 3 year warranty. I purchased 2 of the XLS1000's and currently use them to actively, vertically bi-amp my Maple-framed 1.5QR's. I paid less than $500.00 shipped for the 2 of them. They are very quiet and sound incredible for the money.

I have both an ARC D400II and Emotiva XPA-2 sitting in their boxes while I get together both the components and time to re-do the passive x-overs. The Crowns were just supposed to be a stop-gap measure during the completion of the project, but the vertically bi-amped iteration sounds as good or better than either of my other amps through the factory passive x-over. I long to try the ARC on the highs and Emo on bass, but I'd need a very transparent external x-over for that. Someday soon...

These amps are admittedly not "high-end", but offer excellent value for money. An added plus, if you use 1 stereo amp or 2 in bridged-mono is the ability to use the electronic x-over as a high pass only, or lowpass only.
