In terms of "lifesize performance", for the same surface area of transducer, does a panel equate to cones?
I notice that with large panels, such as the Quad 2905, the soundfield is large enough to bury my ears. Smaller panels such as the Magnepan MMG have the same effect, but due to their size this only occurs in near field or very loud listening volumes.
Now, to get the same soundfield as the MMG, must I really use a cone speaker with 9, 8-inch drivers? Or does one type produce a larger soundfield per inch than the other type? Thanks.
