Might as well use bananas, for the speaker connection. That's what the stock "binding post" is designed to take. I have a set of Maggy Pin jumpers that I used on my 1.6s before a guy in PA ripped them apart.
The Maggies, not the jumpers.
They're just slightly undersized pins that still need to be locked in place by the setscrews. Miles above the stock jumpers in quality, though.
I think Cardas will terminate wires in them but I'd go with the bananas.
