If you believe that a longer piece of wire degrades the signal more than a shorter piece of wire, using 5' of good wire from the amp to the Maggie BPs removes a lot of wire-degradation from your system.
So you've only got the 1' of bad wire left (which is behind the back-plate) degrading the signal. However, some people (me included) replace that with good wire, too. :-))
In fact, I suggest the difference in "degradation" between Magnepan wire and "good" wire is significantly less than the improvement you will get from replacing Magnepan's crappy steel fuse-holders with some good ones.
