I have my 1.7's along the short wall in a 13.5' x 15' room. Measuring from the panel center they are about 3.5' from the side wall and 4' from the front wall. The listening position is 2' from the back wall. I'm delighted with the sound. I frequently move them a few inches in different directions and get a noticeable difference in the sound. They are VERY interactive with the room. While you don't hear what I hear, I'd bet you'd find the sound to be excellent/addictive in your room. Can't help with the amplifier, I use an Adcom GFA-555SE.
