It all depends on what the buyer wants (and or WAF). For maggies, I'd say what is really critical is the sock/wood combination. Cherry with black socks seems to fetch the highest price. Black with black (2001 monolith style) is probably the lowest.
Some products are more money (CJ's with black faceplates, for example) because that color or finish was rare and the buyer is looking for exclusivity. There is a Audio Research SP15 preamp on the 'Gon that had a gorgeous brass faceplate set. It's already sold.
