The point is that they get a lot more bang for the buck when they spend a few dollars optimizing what they have, using inexpensive raw materials, than they do buying someone elses high mark-up capacitors, expensive coils, expensive resistors, exotic wiring and connectors.
The price of the speakers could easily be doubled or tripled using exotic parts. We can mod and add them later at our discretion, with no mark up.
