RE: I have 3 grand to shop ADVICE ANYONE?

Sorry you took my answer badly.
But, you did ask the wrong question and I gave you my answer.
I'll send you a postcard.

All you are going to get is peoples opinions. What good does that do you? You don't know any of these guys, well intentioned as they are. People like and look for different things. I LOVE my 'd' amp. But would I tell you point blank that is YOUR answer? Nope. That would be the height of hubris.

FWIW, Magnepan shows there speakers with Bryston amps. They have good synergy and enough power. The 4b series (SST2=new) for those who find the 3b series, also new, to lack power. monos go to stratospheric power levels. Give the monos each a dedicated power line.

Now, how do you GAUGE opinions? That's the real problem, isn't it? I've been a panel owner for over 30 years and simply don't have the money to experiment. You are trying to shortcut something which may not HAVE a shortcut. Once an opinion has been rendered, you know exactly as much as before about how YOU'D like it. You may love my stereo....or maybe not....but within my limits of space and $$, it's just gonna have to do.

You'll get people recommending darn near anything ever made. Tubes? Got 'em SS? of course. Nobody knows what you like but YOU. That you know some gear you do NOT like is a partial leg up. Leverage that in a better-to-you direction.

If you are even a half days flight from a city with 3 or more stereo stores, I'd find out what they carry and arrange for some auditions. Spend 2 or 3 days, a plane, train or bus ticket and a couple nights in a Holiday Inn.

PS, 90% of gear IS available to listen to and mine, if not the best advice you ever got, was at least honest and constructive.

Please post back after listening to more bad advice and getting something else 'highly recommended' that you can't stand.

Attached is link to a Real Nice Bryston.....??? (just picked it out of the lineup.....I have NO connection with or knowledge of the seller or actual condition of the amp) How's that for a disclaimer?
