I understand the USAF calls the F111 the "aardvark"?Report in this weekend's paper about how the last 17 of our F111s (which, evidently, are still flying) will be decommissioned in a few weeks.
But our name for them is "Flying Pigs" ... due to the F111's ability to "hunt at night with its nose in the weeds" ("thanks to the terrain-following radar that lets it sweep in on targets at low level"). They arrived in Oz in 1973.
