 I put my Scott 4312 tuner in the system while I rework my Accuphase T101 a bit.

Surprising how good the Scott sounds. Some, but not all, the caps have been replaced, even the tuning "eye" still works.

I generally leaved solid state tuners on all the time, in fact my little Meridian 104 does not even have an on off switch.

Any thoughts about leaving the Scott on 24-7?

 Plus, there's that heat and fire thing. :(
Judicious use of the power switch (or a switched outlet) would seem to me to be cheap insurance.

 Left it on the first night since its been sitting quite some time. Turned it off last night, came right back up and locked on station this morning. Its easy to forget the 4312 does have tubes (nuvistors)...so I think you are right.

 The 4312 is a super tuner - from all I have read about it-
I lusted after on in the '90s, but never found one I could afford-
I heard it was common to be used in radio stations when they were participating in relay broadcasts-
Having 3-5 units set up tuned below, at and above the original broadcast frequency - and the engineer would switch between for the best sound-
Never did get to hear one-
I did have a 310 which was a good tuner-

 My 4312 is more Magnum Dynalab in sound than the all tube Scotts I have. I had a 310 E but sold it before I realized what I had. I put NOS nuvistors in the 4312 when I got it, just cause... I have a college classical station relatively close, just use one of the Magnum Dynalab silver ribbon rabbit ears-style antenna. I have an Accuphase T101 that's been my go to for some time. Sound-wise its more lush than the Scott...not really better just different.

 I recall the Scott tuner designer calling the 310E his magnum opus. But I believe it only lasted a year or two due to the advent of transistors being a big selling point.

 The 4312 is a hybrid...nuvistors and transistors...which makes sense as the company went away from tubes.

I remember a long ago vintage gear series in the Absolute Sound that talked about the Scott tuners and the 310 E in particular. The one I had was definitely in need of a tune up so I really never got to hear it at its best.

 It just takes one bad day to have a house fire.

As a general rule I turn off anything not in use. Even certain equipment with a virtual off switch if practical get turned off from a power strip. All of these USB wall warts make me nuts.

I also routinely unplug kitchen appliances that heat up like toasters, air fryers, coffee makers etc. Just a crazy habit.

 But you leave the 220 appliances...refrigerator, A/C heat, water heater on all the time. Do you unplug your stove when you aren't cooking? Sure makes perfect sense.

 There is a big difference between leaving it plugged in and leaving it on-
additionally the Nuvistors will wear out, just like tubes...

 I had a 4312 for a while. It was the coolest-looking vintage tuner IMHO. Even though mine was serviced, the sound wasn't up to the looks. In particular, the stereo separation was poor relative to other tuners. YMMV
