His new album, Creole Orchestra featuring Rene Marie, has been #1 on the JazzWeek charts for a well-deserved 6 straight weeks. Through a mutual friend, I was able to arrange an interview with him on my WPFW radio show last week. The following night, he played DC's Carlyle Room with Creole Soul, his smaller ensemble. Excellent show. I couldn't quickly find a video of the new album, so the linky below is of Creole Soul. BTW Godwin Louis on the alto is for REAL. A new album (his second as a leader) drops at the end of this month. "Anyone who understands jazz knows that you can't understand it. It's too complicated. That's what's so simple about it." - Yogi Berra. Cpwill |
