Still with us at age 89 at time of writing. I always liked him, and like most became familiar with his playing through the Miles recordings.

Found this late video of him playing at Smalls. Seated and at a venerable age, but sounding marvellous.

Any more fans here?

Had the good fortune to see George in a quintet with Eric Alexander (on tenor as well) and the late great Harold Mabern on piano at Dizzy's in NYC. Must have been @ 2015. They were stellar, naturally.

I saw him with 4 Decades of Miles 20 + years ago in N.Y. Getting the disc signed by them all Coleman dropped a freshly poured rum and coke. When the girl came up I apologized, saying that I knocked it out of his hand. In gratitude he said he'd send me a signed portrait. He never did get around to it.
