Hard to really know.
Buy 'n try is the only real way of knowing Feeling Lucky??
There are a LOT of vociferous Fanboys (shills?) for Mark audio.
I bought a pair of MA years ago. I was told... when I was underwhelmed by mine that I had bought the 'wrong' versions.
Seems there is a flavour of the week and seemingly it changes constantly.
Personally I'd seriously consider the Usual quality driver Suspects. ie; ones that are Not 'Fabrique en Chine'

Thanks for the advice. My plan is to use a fairly good driver in an old cabinet. Wine and bottle. But low priced drivers sound average. I am reading all about Purifi just in case ie price crashing or me hitting Lotto. That New Hampshire Epicure dtivers seem to be the best bet.

Regards
Bill

I've been playing with the 10P for a couple of months. Here are two quick videos I shot with my iphone.

The video quality is obviously not great, but hopefully the audio is good enough to give you a rough idea of what to expect. I have the 10P crossed over close to 10 kHz.

It depends on your application, but all in all it's a wonderful driver that is fantastic down to about 70 Hz. The mids are particularly notable. I'm working on improving the lowest octave or two and have it in a large bass reflex cabinet. I feel it does miss some degree of sparkle in the upper registers, so if you are looking for something more competitive to a multi-driver unit, I feel it needs a bit of assistance beyond its sweet spot of about 70Hz - 12kHz.

I've heard the MA Alpair 10.3 and the 10P sounds more relaxed and natural without sacrificing much detail. That said, 10.3 is better at delivering bass and has more high frequency energy and presence, but it's peakier which may be more fatiguing over a long listening session.

The 10P avoids the shout of some other FR drivers I've heard, but to my ears, many drivers of this size (and larger) beam the last HF octave, so I added a tweeter with a 1st order crossover to limit that. In terms of the quality of the HF reproduction, its amazingly close to the tweeter I added up to the limits of my hearing with just a bit less of the aforementioned sparkle and air.

Buy n' try is truly correct. I like how you were told that you bought the "wrong" versions. Didn't know there were wrong and right ones.

Also seems like the product lines are not very long lived. There appears to be decent stocks, but not sure why drivers like the 10P and 12PW are out of current production as the designs are not that old.
