What you're seeing is a pair of Kenton Forsythe 1970's SR215 bass horns with four, JBL, 15", 2225H LF drivers installed in the pair. On top is a pair of JBL 2395 lens with their 2505 stands. The seller is providing both a pair of JBL 2446H HF drivers and a pair of Gauss 4080 HF drivers! I don't know why but these really got my juices flowing and for some reason I'm really "lusting" after these speakers. I can imagine a nice pair of Fostex T500a mk2 or T900a mounted below the V in those 2395 lens on top of the cabinet and crossed in somewhere probably between 8Khz to 10Khz and taking the highs out to 38Khz to 40Khz! If I only had $6500. Now that would be a one heck of pair of speakers in the audio room! What do you guys think...

Go for It. I bet they will be dramatically good.

I use the t900-a bullet tweeters in My DIY horn rig, and I love them.

I have a pair of JBL L200B which are two ways with smaller but similar lens. I have to say that I am not impressed with the lens and do not use them and would not use them. That of course is simply my opinion but you might want to check a pair of them out first. I thought and still think that the lens does indeed look very cool but they don't do it for me sound wise. YMMV so check a pair out. Best regards Moray James.

James,

What is it that you don't like or you feel that the lens "does" to the music?

Don,

Thanks for the encouragement, but I don't have the $6.5K needed...

The lens does in fact provide the dispersion it says that it does but in doing so screws up the image and depth of image. I would much rather listen with the lens off and sit in the sweet spot. These lens types did not hang around for very long ever wonder why. Another wonder why is go searching for JBL L200, L200B or L300 and see just how many photos you can find with the lens Vs without the lens. A lot of people obviously feel the same way. That's is my take on it you may like the up front forward and wide presentation of the lens but it is not for me. Might sound much better with a long distance to integrate I don't know does not work in the near field where most of us listen. YMMV as they say. Best regards Moray James.

As moray says, the lens isn't ideal. The 2225h is also not the same caliber of driver as the altecs you might see in similar cabinets, or it's younger, smarter brother the 2226h.

Bass is supposed to sound big. 6.5" is not a woofer size.

Frankly: Meh. you could build these yourself for less than that, by a lot. I had a set of those lenses, and horns (the oval horns used on Paragons). Paired with 2440 which was a better driver than 2446. You need a HUGE room to get those to work right, and they are really about dispersion of sound (through diffraction and delay, to some extent). They are designed for pro use, and don't really do anything good in home environment. They do look cool, and there is demand for those horns/lenses, but there's much better choices for home use.

I know this is an old thread but watching these videos

and/or reading the print versions here

Troy Crowe's before/after measurements must indicate very audible improvements from his lenses with these tweeters.
