So, I recleaned the noisey ECM pressings on my VPI machine with some old Record Research Super Deep Cleaner that I forgot that I had: still crackly. Next, I ran them through a friend's Degritter ultrasonic cleaner: no change. I suppose that I have been spoiled by some of the better vinyl that I have picked up over the past decade, pressings that are dead quiet with terrific sonics like the Sony LPs of YoYo Ma's Bach Cello Suites. I mistakenly came to expect a high production standard that is simply not out there all the time. And I wrote a note to ECM through their website about the Krispie issue to see if they would do an exchange; never received a reply.
If you haven't already, you might try multiple cleanings with the Degritter.
Sometimes seven or eight trips in the US bath can dislodge stubborn stuff. Although a poor pressing that exhibits fill issues cannot be remedied. It may be that what you have is a poorly made pressing.
Later Gator,
Dave
