Spinning my Breakdance LP. Can't remember where or when I got it but after a couple pops and ticks, it's maybe average at best, a bit thin. My Gold Rush '79 2-lp is fuller in comparison. Even better my K-tel Rock 80 has the long uncropped version of My Sharona! I wonder what the potential was for the best K-tel copies.Must have grabbed all these back 20+ yrs ago at a weekend basement sale(an upstairs room actually)that a local place used to have. 50 cent, $1, $2, and $4 bins. 75% of my current collection came from there.

Part of my soundtrack as a 12-13yo. Some tracks were in constant rotation at the roller skating rink.
I was 12 then also! But i picked up this record years later at a bin sale most likely. good stuff
K-Tel was just about the worst quality pop label IMHO. Here in Holland there was Arcade which pressed 30 minutes of music per side on blues and pop compilations. Considering that the sound quality was OK. The label owner, Herman Heinsbroek, became a multi-millionaire and later on he had a short career in Dutch politics.

Pick yourself up a NEW ZEALAND copy of K-TEL's NEIL DIAMOND | LOVE SONGS.
It is simply sensational... not just for the quality of the songs, but also for the pressing quality and the sound quality!
Considering it is K-TEL AND a compilation, this is most unexpected... but true enough!
Worth noting that a lot of original NEW ZEALAND pressings are superb!
any song that gets a person moving is aces with me. I've always had the philosophy that if your system or supply of records can't handle a dance party, you could loose a heck of a memory.
I know this is outside of the primarily, solitary and realistic goals of most people who are into better sound reproduction , but one would never regret sharing , and being central to group fun.
prepping for a party that might never come makes a lot more sense than prepping for the end of the world. my talk story on this subject is pretty good, I had help.
I have over 100 compilations in my collection. 5 Sessions mail order comps, I think 4 of them are 4 LP sets and the other one a double LP that might have been the first album I bought with my own money. No Ronco or K-tel products.
