If by directional you mean does it "care" if it goes FROM 300 ohm TO 75 ohm or vice versa?No, it is agnostic. ;)

This balum is marked with an arrow going from 300 ohm side to 75 ohm side. So it doesn't work any differently using it to go from a 75 ohm coaxial leading from my antenna to the 300 ohm side leading to my tuner.

I am a big fan. ;)In seriousness, one can get clever (or desperate , as the case may be) and MacGyver adaptor(s) ad hoc . For example, a straightened paperclip can fit the center connector ('hole') on a female F-connector pretty darned well. Do NOT ask my how I know this! ;)
