Thanks to the fine folk at Bottlehead. MM sensitivity.
Given a pair of triodes with mu of 33 can get the job done with( IIRC ), the RIAA stuck in the middle I would be tempted to try this with single triodes like the 6S4P-EV.

Not sure which position is better, Doug....Input or driver.

I have a fully differential phono pre with a MOSFET/vacuum tube (6DJ8,6N23) cascode input stage. Recently I screened all the 6DJ8 family tubes in my stash for low noise, low microphonics, and balanced sections. Out of over two dozen tubes tested I found only one pair of Mullard ECC88s and four orange globe Amperex 7308s. The two 6N23s that I recently purchased from Kevin Deal's "Special Stash", for a pretty penny, passed for low noise and microphonics; but, one was not as balanced as I would like. All the Amperex white label PQ 6922s and Siemens didn't pass.
If you want to use 6DJ8s in a phono stage keep in mind finding low noise/low microphonic examples could be a challenge.
