Speakers also too close to front wall and not optimally driven.
I'm about to post about someone who recently bought a pair. I was amazed how similar some of his observations were to mine.
It was great to see Sound Lab speakers at the show especially with two rooms!
Unfortunately neither room did justice to the speakers. The room in the pic was much too small for a speaker of that size. I wouldn't demonstrate the QUAD in a room of that size.
The room on the main floor was appropriate for a speaker of that size. But the amplification was completely inadequate for the task.
I understand shows can be difficult. That is no excuse for these types of mismatches.
perhaps not if it gives folks a poor and inaccurate perspective of their capability.
The very first show I attended was in Atlanta around 1974. I clearly remember two products: Infinity Servo Statik and large multi-section Cerwin Vega of some sort.
I was disappointed that the Infinity was for show only. No demo. Perhaps that was a better choice in that day.
The Cerwin Vegas were entertaining if nothing else. Lalo Shifrin's theme from Mission Impossible was playing at such a level the bottom of my trousers was flopping in the breeze. Not realistic, but fun. :)
Agreed. If one cannot accomplish a great demo at a show it's best not to attend.
