I thought after this tumor I would have to settle for a simple system like the one already pictured. However I wanted more and added several components including the Jolida soundstage expander and Apogee Big Ben. Headphones are now the Kse1200 electrostatic earbuds from Shure.

How do you like the electrostatic earbuds?

Hey Sisterray,
Love them. They are the best sounding things in the house. You do need some bass boost IMHO but man they are soooooo clean and effortless. And with some boost, the bass is stellar. Amazon has them like $700 off on prime day and I just saw them reduced like that a few weeks ago. Its like a hifi bargain.
Sure the accompanying energizer is a pain but not insurmountable and before the tumor I was working on getting a custom one made from bottlehead. That said in the current setup the energizer is fine and you can probably see it below the ipad. It just sits there and I have it connected to charge and can listen on batteries if i like but often just listen while it is charging. Ironically, its when using these in a portable setup where the energizer is an issue for me, but no portable system is flawless...
These things just disappear like most electrostatics and i actually prefer not getting my over ears hot an sweaty. There are reviews where they talk about the isolation (from the tips) and the electrostatic detail offering a unique experience.
Here is a pretty solid review though I don't necessarily agree with the conclusion for me:

At a list price of $2K, you did very well!
STAX has earbuds, too, with a portable energizer. (It comes with an optional headband.) I BELIEVE that system is around $400 USD. The Shure buds are lower profile. I haven't heard either one.
Enjoy!

Cool! Had no idea about the stax. Looks like the buds are $284 and the portable amp with dac is $945. That's probably a better value than the shure since you get a dac and can probably buy a desktop amp instead...just a guess. Oh well, I will have to make due with the Shure :).

We're talking about two different systems. The one I was referring to may be available only in Japan.
I'm perfectly happy with my over-the-ear STAX. I'm trying to figure out a way to swing a pair of L700s.
Great to hear you're on the way to recovery. My father's brain tumor responded very well to radiation.
Stay well.

Ah Japan. They get all the good electronics.
Wonder how the US stax earbuds sound.
I am super fortunate that the tumor was benign but it can come back so its good to know that radiation works well.
Good luck on the L700.
Probably not the same thing since there are other letters but just in case
