Spinning Pet Sounds tonight...RIP, Brian.
-Rod
Hi Rod
This is sad, they / he made so much music.
One of the artists that records with our studio monitors sent one of his recording of one of Brian's songs, Carl is such a sweet guitar player. Have a listen

can't remember growing up with the Beach Boys?
I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air...
I can remember waking up to the clock radio playing Good Vibrations.

What a long strange trip Brian made in his lifetime. It was so nice he was able to resume his career although limited the last half of his life. RIP

A mad genius- R.I.P.
True, although I accept the 'genius' part based primarely on the assessment of other musicians putting Wilson in that category. Beyond perhaps Good Vibrations, God Only Knows, and his interpretation of Sloop John B, I never could completely appreciate Wilson's work. I have about five copies of Pet Sounds, and I tried, I really tried, but it always left me largely unmoved.
To quote the John Milner character's assessment of Surf music in the American Graffiti film: "I don't like that surfin' shit. Rock and roll's been going down hill ever since Buddy Holly died."
RIP, Mr. Wilson. Thank you for the pleasure you brought millions, and for inspiring Paul McCartney to begin work on Sargent Pepper's after he heard your Pet Sounds.
