Harvey will tell you everything you need to know from beyond this realm.
Gizmo was special. I met him once at a New Yourk hi fi show and I recall him talking about sniffing crushed Oreo cookies.
A good audio pal and I were at a Vegas CES, I don't remember the year. Joining the line for one of the lunch offerings within the hotel we realized Harvey had just come up behind us. We were both familiar enough with him to recognize who it was so were delighted to begin chatting. We ended up at the same table so then had an hour to listen to his tales. As we were ready to depart afterwards he pulled a copy of "The Search For Musical Ecstasy" from his bag and signed it. Just now I looked again and he had written, "Find your sufferings".
A truly individual personality.
"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing, if you can fake that you've got it made." Groucho
Gizmo is not from this century. Shouldn't we add to the canon?
I didn't think it was bland, unless if you mean bland re: fantasy stuff. This is a sober minded piece of writing.

Bland as in the revelation that people love toys and expensive toys are fun even though they may not sound better. That some people suffer from neurosis is not specifically related to audio.

You make it sound boring.
You should hear me tell the story.
