I enjoy leafing through Stereophile. There's no point in reading it as there's usually not a single thing in it that I can afford. I used to read Fremer but he's gone. My subscription just lapsed, but I won't be renewing it at their rate on $40.00 a year. If I can find it cheaper I'll do it.

Stereophile and TAS are the Robb Report of audio gear. As you said, basically a luxury catalog. But I like to look.
I let my Stereophile subscription run out because the renewal price is high. I let it lapse for a couple months then subscribe again at the cheap new subscriber discount rate.
TAS has a review of some sanely priced Schiit gear this month. I haven't read it yet.

I also kicked out, long ago, but only after reading one too many snake oil product endorsements. hopefully they have improved since the days of freemer, as I still have a deep thirst for audio literature.

matter of fact, although I already have my forever turntable (Gyro se) , I'm going to look for info on the turntable mentioned in the magazine.. speakers are just so room dependent , I hardly look much past the all important quality of the drivers. I call it the curmudgeon method.
