I have many of these old records. I used to donate them to Goodwill. But they stopped taking these.
Hurricane Helene pushed 3 feet of saltwater into the house. As the covers had swelled I had to use a crow bar to remove them from the cabinet.
Silver Lining
Over the years I have recorded them to the computer and have them on 3 external hard disks.
60+ years of collecting.
Yesterday was Curtis Knight & Jimi Hendrix-Flashing.
I kept a few vinyl LPs for myself to scratch the occasional nostalgic itch. And then I put the LP's and rig back in the closet. Around here weStream baby, stream !!
Roon Remote Control on iPad with access to thousands of albums at my finger tips that never need cleaning or flipping the B side.

The iPad is a remote control only. There is no music on the iPad itself.

I got rid of about 500 records that way. I could not believe all sorts of near by neighbours came over and they were all gone in the first day. Young and old I got to meet some good people.

Don't dispose, recycle instead.
This process no longer applies due to a time warp.
When I returned to New York after a journey to the west, I would send my LPs to Smokey, at The Cosmic Airplane in Salt Lake City. I lived there in 77-78. Bought a ton of great LPs from the Airplane. A great place.
Anyone remember the Cosmic Airplane?

Why don't catfish have kittens? (Moe Howard 1937)
No....but I remember The Thirteenth Floor Elevators
I have sold approx. 430 albums using eBay & CraigsList, some on eBay for very good money.
How did you package them, and what mailing service?
You can buy record mailers (about $1.00 ea.) and ship USPS Media Mail (about $4.65)
I sold a jazz record about a year ago on eBay for $500. Prestige label if memory serves.
My local Goodwill website says they do accept LPs:

if there is ever a local record show, you might be able to get a collector to take them on the condition of no inspections, in the hope of some worth being there to the advance the collectors goals.
if they are only target practice quality, where there's a will there is a way. I've seen old records used as clock faces, wall coverings , even melted into hipster snack bowls at craft fairs.
. Since they already have a hole, maybe melting them into plant containers is an option. perhaps you have seen soda can crafted into biplanes or cars , do something like that. cover your car with them and gain your fifteen minutes of fame. make a water feature for the yard.
anything but the landfill, they will just clog up the place.
There's a used record store in my area that buys/sells cheap. Maybe you have something like that in your neighborhood?

Steve
Take them to expressway overpass. see for far they fly when thrown like a frisbee.
and aim for the necks.
certain donations, you'll need to drop them off.
Is it a box full of LPs?
Leave it on the sidewalk, someone that wants it will find them.
FREE on Craigslist will work as a last resort.

Especially smaller colleges-
Happy Listening
Yes, 6Î 3C (6L6) can be used for that purpose. Broadcasting music for college class mate is very cool.

OP, this is called the asylum for a reason. Story is deadly serious.
This hobby still makes me chuckle. Amazing.

First I have heard that Goodwill stopped taking records. Maybe a consignment shop.
