As one who has worked in the recording field for several decades, I have used both analog and digital systems, and have to disagree with the guy's assumptions and conclusions. His positions are clearly based more on attitude and ideology than on an objective perspective of the recording process and technology.! This is critical to one of his fundamental assertions: In neither the analog nor digital process, there is no mandate to do re-takes ad nauseum.
That is so important and fundamental to his presentation, that it bears repeating: In neither the analog nor digital process, there is no mandate to do re-takes ad nauseum.
The choice to do re-take after re-take after re-take is entirely up to the musicians and the producer, and has nothing to do with whether the recording system is analog or digital.
Nor is digital more expensive, or require more equipment maintenance.
That is laughable on its face. If digital were more expensive, required more maintenance, more "updates", we'd all still be running 2" tape.
Clearly, he prefers to work in his "comfort zone". That's fine, but projecting his preference for analog as "better" to other people is both wrong, and misleading to people who are new to the art and craft.
