Watch the video, he explains the advantage of tape has nothing to do with the sound but rather the creative process.

There might be something to be gained considering the opinion of a person who makes his living hearing both the original and the recorded sounds.

Everybody knows what opinions are worth these days. Once I see a person opens by saying he has been in this hobby for more than 40 years as if that means something very important I generally put him on ignore immediately. The forums are littered with the bones of logical fallacies.
