Well I got it done. Wife is away so I had no interruptions and could play as quiet or as loud as I like. I sat and listened carefully to several album tracks comparing them side by side streaming Qobuz via Qobuz Connect and Qobuz via Roon Ready. I could easily switch between the Qobuz and Roon Apps on the iPad with one staged to play the same tune after the other. It was just a matter of switching between Apps and pressing Play for immediate A/B comparison. There was no need for Volume level matching as both played at the exact same loudness.I did not hear any sonic difference between Qobuz via Qobuz Connect and Qobuz via Roon Ready playing through my Eversolo DMP-A8 streamer/DAC.
Eversolo DMP-A8 streamer/DAC touchscreen below. Notice Qobuz Connect or Roon Ready in the upper left of the screen.
Eversolo DMP-A8 streamer/DAC touchscreen display. Qobuz Connect above. Roon Ready belowThere you go. No difference in sound quality from my perspective during casual listening or 'critical listening'. Same ole. YMMV.
Recap of the setup from my previous post:To create a level playing field I disabled Roon features like headroom management, volume leveling, sample rate conversions, EQ settings etc. In other words all audio related feature tweaks in Roon were disabled. I was playing unadulterated bit-perfect via Roon and bit-perfect vs Qobuz Connect.
The setup:
[#1]: iPad running Qobuz App as Qobuz Connect 'controller'
Eversolo DMP-A8 as Qobuz Connect capable network streamer[#2]: iPad running Roon App as Roon 'controller'
Eversolo DMP-A8 as Roon Ready network streamerThe Eversolo is attached to my home network via hardwired Ethernet and the iPad 'controller' goes wireless over Wifi on the same home network.

Thanks much for taking the time to share your thoughts, process, and pictures...very helpful. Hopefully, you got some enjoyment from the comparison without too much audiophile angst!!
Yes, I enjoyed doing the sound quality comparison as it satisfied my curiosity and didn't take much effort. I think Qobuz/Qobuz Connect is an excellent solution for anyone who simply wants to stream Qobuz. However, I prefer the flexibility of the Roon user interface and Roon's ability to play my own local music files in addition to streaming Qobuz. Since I have a lifetime subscription to Roon I have no reason to switch to Qobuz Connect.

Just like LMS. :)
Not quite exactly as there are dozens of other Roon features that I use daily that are not available in LMS or Qobuz Connect.
I enjoyed using LMS over 15 years ago with my Squeezebox Touch. Good to know it's still evolving to catch up with the leaders ;-). I'm sure it's still a great DIY solution.

Many Roon innovations are being worked on for LMS and Audirvana. There are leaders like Roon that changed the landscape and there are followers.
No argument that FREE software is nice, but sometimes it's worth paying for better if the value is there for you. It is for me as I've been on Roon for nearly 10 years now with no reason to go back to LMS or Audirvana.

LMS supported a wide range of online internet integrations before Roon's 2015 launch .
The Tidal plugin was developed by Logitech about the same time. Adding the Qobuz flavor when it was available to the US market was a natural progression.
No added value for me to change.
Which has more innovative features overall? Not to mention a polished user friendly setup and overall user experience.Roon? LMS?
I'm not here to sell anyone on Roon but the answer is clear for me. Enjoy whatever playback system you prefer.

It's true Roon offers lots of *innovative* features unimportant to many. :)
You are uniquely qualified to determine which features are important or unimportant to others. Pretty impressive E-Stat.

observing reality as found by many inmates like Cut-Throat .
If one media/music server filled everyone's needs, there wouldn't be so many of them around! :)
You two should form a LMS/PcP cheer leading squad. I'll look for you at the next audio show among a sea of Roon powered booths.
