I purchased this little DAC because I do get caught at airports from time to time and I still want access to my own library while traveling. (Long story - failed retirement.) So far, and after some very limited listening, my impression is of very balanced sound with sufficient power for most headphones (maybe not my Hifian Sundara's, though I don't travel with those). Seems a good match for my Fiio FT1's. I also like that they work well with a wide variety of formats and devices (phones, PCs, tablets). Not as convenient for travel as Bluetooth, but better, I think. If you're traveling and are not satisfied with wireless headphones, give this a try. It's better than its price would suggest. https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/ifi-audio-go-link.26374/
I happen to be traveling with wifey on one of her business trips and am listening to Qobuz in the Sky Club during our layover.
I'm an iPhone guy and use their DAC adapter with Shure se535s. $60 isn't much but wonder about differences given the modest source and comparatively high ambient noise levels especiially while aloft.
Thx!
I generally don't use in-ear devices. I just can't seat them well enough to be my satisfactory sound. YMMV. So, I can't make a direct comparison with the FiiO FT1 headphones which are closed-back devices. However, some observations:
The iIf DAC has enough output for these headphones, and probably most others. (Maybe not planars.)
I don't find the iFi bright; sound seems to me well balanced.
The devices works with iPhone, PC, Chromebook, and even Linux with the use of external drivers. It comes with plus/adaptors for USB, USB C, and Lightning. That's pretty cool, as long as I don't lose them!
Really a bargain, and I look forward to traveling in style when next I fly. BTW - I sometimes take a JBL Go bluetooth speaker for hotel rooms. While not "audiophile," it sure allows me to have acceptable audio when I'm away from my various home systems. So, the audio bug must really have bitten me.

My solution was custom fitted sleeves for them. Isolation on lawn tractor is better than noise canceling Air Pods!

To be honest the first moment I heard Go link I was disappointed. iFi is a good company. I have their other products.
If I remember correctly. Go link is brighter than LG V40 which is brighter than V60.
Not sure brighter is what I seek. :)
I don't like bright either.
I've gone to great expense with component and network isolation, improved power supplies and various cabling choices to minimize brightness in my systems. Mind you, I'm not talking about equalization.
I find that eliminating noise results in a darker, more natural response revealing true inner detail. :)
FACT.

many folks like the false brightness caused by untrapped RFiI, cheap switchers, et. al.
I suspect they are unfamiliar with the sound of non-electronic instruments.
Using a good filter to remove anything above 20kHz also results in a clean, more extended and analog treble.
You have far more audiophile cred than me when it comes to travel audio! At least you're not strapping a honkin outboard DAC/Headphone Amp/battery to your phone with velcro or black tape. That's so old school compared to your setup. For travel, I leave my phone in my pocket and put on a pair of these 2018 generation Sony WH1000XM3 wireless bluetooth noise cancelling headphones. It's one of the top rated in the world of noise cancelling headphones and it sounds pretty decent too:

Trying for a good combination of quality and convenience. When I travel on business (something I thought I would not be doing at this point in my life, but, well, here I am), I like a bit of a sanctuary at busy/noisy airports. I too use Bluetooth headphones and they work well enough, for the most part. Sometimes, though, I want something better. Let's see how I feel on upcoming travel. BTW - also a nice arrangement for listening late at night, I think.
I also have an iFi GO link. I pair it with a KZ ZSN Pro X IEM. I use the setup on beach, on airplane and at airport. They are not as good or convenient as my LG V60/V40. However my service provider does not support these LG phones any more.
