RE: Turntable question

I'm generally in favor of used equipment, up to a point. That was an excellent turntable and arm combo in its day, but it's probably pushing 40 years old now. That's not a problem if it's been properly set up and well cared for, but it is always hard to know. Same with cartridges. Sellers tend to deflate the hours of usage, so unless you know them personally I would be dubious about the 150 hrs.

My gut tells me that $2k is a bit rich. You didn't mention if it has a dust cover, but if it does and everything is in VG condition, I would estimate $1000 as the high end for the deck with arm. Maybe add $200 - $300 for the cart if it also is in VG shape. As other posters have mentioned, a budget of $2k puts you in a very sweet spot with many excellent options. Do your homework and try some auditions. That's part of the fun.

Regarding system synergy, the relationship between cartridge and phono stage is critical. The Micro Ace SH is a high output moving coil cart, so your Sanders preamp should have no problem handling it. You may need to get under the hood to adjust some settings.

Just my opinion, based on some experience, so take it for what it is worth. I hope it helps.

. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
