Well, if you want tube sound than you need tube rectification - don't even think to get great sound if you use solid stage recitfiers! I've compared Pass 3 with very good SV572-10 tube SE amp (without any negative feedback) and - we have nothing to compare! Yes, OK, Pass sounds great - for solid stage amp! Good tube SE (be careful - I said GOOD)outperforms it in every aspect.
On your place I would choose Hedlunds and make great DIY SE amp (300B, 2A3 or something that way). Be careful with amp: use only good stuff: ELNA, Black Gate, paper in oil caps, Shinkoh, Caddock, Mills NI resistors, good brand tubes, TUBE RECTIFIER (!!!) and simple design. You can't go wrong!If anyone prefers Pass than he/she didn't compare at all!
