I was going to try the same thing, having read about some benefits, but tried something else first that worked wonders. I went for some ordinary racquetballs (squash balls work the same), seated them into some black ABS rings (ordinary fittings at your hardware store) and put two under the front feet and one under the chassis at the middle of the back of the speaker box. This made for isolation, instead of the coupling that cones do, at 3 points, but the placement ensured that the sub was tilted upward at the front (had read about this). Worked like a charm, cannot harm your floors.FYI, my floors are suspended laminate. If you have carpet, you might prefer the cones.
