Cones under Subwoofers?

Anyone use cones under their subwoofers? I've been thinking about doing this but fear the forceful vibrations of the sub will cause the cones to skirt around on the floor causing marks. I could put a sandbox or disks below it though.

Any benefits in sound? Cones usually point at the more resonant surface, but in this case, the sub is the one that is rattling/moving most.
