Thanks for the encouragement. i see no problems, except being a student I can only dream of MLSSA or the like.

As far as the idea of using a good sound card goes, the one I was thinking of has externally power dacs. and i'm not confident in my abilities with the eprom route.

I also don't think the project will get off the ground untill next christmas now (as uni is going to be very hectic this year)

anyway, thanks for the input.
