Not that I have any experience whatsoever with modifying Thiels but it is my understanding that the Thiel crossover is what gives the speakers their status. I know that the drivers used on the older 3.5 and 2.0 models were pretty standard and the "seamless" sounds produced by these speakers is a result of a great crossover design. The newer models (like your 2.3) proably have much more sophisticated drivers but I wouldn't rush out to modify anything here. You can call Thiel and talk to any of the designers... they are pretty open to customer comments.
