Sounds like you might have a cold solder joint. Reheat the joints, especially anyhting concerning the 12uf cap, amybe drp just a tiny bit mroe solder into it to be sure, then test again.It also may depend on where you are connecting to the 12uf cap. If you can connect your multimeter to the leads from the cap and it works, but connecting to the place where the cap is soldered to the joint and it DOESNT work, then yeah, cold solder joint.
You might try to read the actual value of the cap instead of just the continuity test, also.
After checking the 12uf, did you go back and check the 33uf? If there are troubles doing this, just might be your MM batteries.
If all else fails, tear it down and start over. Shouldn't take too long, and you can be sure you're going to get it right before getting a signal to your speaks.
