Hi,I have some setup problem/question regarding the Behringer UC.
I have been playing it for a few days in fully digital mode at the moment. I try not to boost any freq for more than 6dB, and I have set the master fader at –6dB so that I do not exceed the digital max of 0dB.
My system:
Audio Note AN/K speakers
EL34 parallel SET at ~15W/ch
REL Strata subwoofer
Room size: 2.3m(W) x 4.8m(L) x 2.8m(H)Case 1:
I live in a high raise apartment, even with no pink noise output, the mic picks up some low freq signal from the surroundings (road noise?), together with the typical room mode at around 25-40Hz and 60Hz, I have a very hard time attenuating the low freq, even without the Rel connected.
All my Para EQs are used to attenuating the low freq at 29, 40 and 60 Hz, even at max setting (-48dB), the main EQ (after running Auto-Q) still need to attenuate -16dB at those freq. And with such high amount of attenuation in the low freq, the DSP overflows often.
Case 2:
So I tried to use the Rel Strata to actively cancel out some low freq (opposite phase to the main speakers), I did have some success and I could get a flat freq response from 25Hz to 16KHz.
However, even with the Rel in anti phase, I still need around -15dB for most of the Para EQ, then the main EQ has around –6dB in the low freq range (31.5 and 40Hz).
With this setup, the DSP overflows often too.
So to all the UC veterans:
1. Did I do it correctly by the master fader to –6dB and limit the boost to 6dB max to avoid clipping?
2. How to fix the low freq problem (too much attenuation needed) so that I can get a fairly flat curve without the help of the Rel Strata (anti phase)?
3. How to fix the overflow problem? May be once I fixed question 2 above, this problem will go away?
Many thanks for the help.
