I asked around a bit and just got the opinion that the AD797 is very good when you can get it to work right but is very fussy. The datasheet kind of suggests this. If this is the case you may find than most DIYers have been so happy to get it to run "plain vanilla" that they don't press on beyond that. You may have to experiment.
