Re: Question regarding Jon Risch IC's

The two insulated cores get twisted together, not the bare ends themselves. THESE TWO BARE CONDUCTERS SHOULD NEVER TOUCH EACH OTHER!!
I then use .090 o.d. teflon tubing and spiral two lengths of it around the twisted cores so that it lays nicely between the twisted cores. The end result is a kind of round cross section. You now slide this into the copper braid. To terminate, you solder one conducter to the center pin and the other to the connecter body. Use a continuity tester to check the conducters at the other end to make sure that you solder the same conducter to the center pin on both ends. If you mix these up, or allow them to touch any where ,you will fry your components! Now you solder the braid to the connecter body on one end only. stop the braid just short of the connecter on the other end. The end with the braid soldered to the connecter connects to the source component. The 8661 and 8668 are not cables, they are braided shields. All of the stuff mentioned is available from Takefiveaudio.com at resonable prices.(Canadian exchange rate!) Good luck! Gary
