Re: CS4397 DAC

This is the schematics that I use for the differential ouptut of my SA8260.

This is a picture of the output stage during testing.

( this output stage in technical terms does not fully satisfy my poisoned brain as it does not have dual mono power supply but it does sound very very nice with the Lundahl transformer).

Yes, the output stage are different boxes from the SA8260. The SA8260 is simply not big enough to host this. Also I took away the MC board and put another transformer into the SA8260 simply for the CS4397.

Does this sound better than my 1704 DIY DAC ? I won't put it this way. They simply sound different. The 1704 is very analytical sound. For the sake of operating convenience, the 1704 DAC is now in the 'Fridge'.

Also this 1704 DAC I think is becoming obsolete due to the technology available today. The Philips 963 is using 24/192 upsampler for CD while this 1704 DAC only has CS8420 which is not the same leaque. (What a pity, it does become obsolete very quickly. I built this 1704 DAC only 1.5 years ago).
